Morse Micro’s MM8108 is the leading Wi-Fi HaLow chip

The longest-range, fastest speeds, most power-efficient, all in the smallest size.

KEY FEATURES

Morse Micro's MM8108 sets the benchmark for Wi-Fi HaLow SoCs

If you are interested in Wi-Fi HaLow technology, the MM8108 is the leader in every key metric.

Longest range

Up to 10× the range of conventional Wi-Fi

Fastest

Up to 43.3 Mbps, using the world-first sub-1 GHz 256-QAM PHY.

Most power-efficient

The industry's best Wi-Fi transmit-power efficiency.

Smallest

5 × 5 mm FC-BGA, 0.85 mm tall.
Longest Range Wi-Fi

Long-range Wi-Fi with the fastest speeds at distance

The MM8108 pushes both reach and throughput further than any other Wi-Fi HaLow chip.

Longer reach
Operating in sub-1 GHz spectrum gives the MM8108 up to 10× the range of conventional Wi-Fi and two to five times better penetration through walls, floors, and obstructions, with a high-sensitivity integrated low-noise amplifier to hold the link at distance.

Higher throughput
The world-first sub-1 GHz 256-QAM physical layer delivers data rates up to 43.3 Mbps, the highest of any private long-range wireless network.

Data that holds up at range
Together, that reach and throughput are what let the MM8108 carry security camera video and real-time device connectivity at distances conventional Wi-Fi cannot reach, and speeds other long-range wireless cannot deliver.

Energy efficiency

World leading Wi-Fi transmit efficiency

The MM8108 delivers unparalleled transmit power efficiency, both compared to other Wi-Fi HaLow chips and every other Wi-Fi chip in market. With up to 3x more energy efficiency than the next best Wi-Fi SoC, your devices can send more data and last longer per charge.

Power saving built into the standard

The MM8108 supports a suite of Wi-Fi HaLow power-saving features, including DTIM and Target Wake Time, so devices drop into low-power states between transmissions to improve battery life.

Sub-1 GHz and narrow band device efficiency

Sub-1 GHz range and signal penetration combined with narrow bandwidths retain a stronger, more reliable signal through obstacles and at distance, reducing required output power, receive power, and retries than Wi-Fi.

Wi-Fi HaLow is designed for energy efficiency

Efficient transmit, low-power states, and reliable connectivity at distance, all combine to make the MM8108 well suited to battery-powered and energy-sensitive designs.

COMPARISON

How it compares

Against every other Wi-Fi HaLow chip available today, the MM8108 leads on size, speed, range, and power efficiency, with the widest set of host interfaces and the only single-chip global SKU.

The most integrated single-chip Wi-Fi HaLow solution

The MM8108 puts more onto a single chip than any Wi-Fi HaLow SoC before it: the radio front end, the host connectivity, and power management, all integrated.

A complete RF front end, on-chip

The power amplifier and low-noise amplifier are integrated, with digital transmit filtering and pre-distortion, so there's no external front-end module or SAW filter to design in.

One BOM, worldwide

The integrated front end delivers compatibility with global regulatory environments, so a single MM8108 can be set to different country settings, with no region specific or external front end required.

More ways to connect.

The MM8108 provides High-Speed USB 2.0, SDIO 2.0, and SPI device interfaces. Its fully integrated 802.11ah MAC layer supports extensive host offload, further reducing system power consumption.

Designed to build on

The MM8108 is Wi-Fi, so it arrives with everything Wi-Fi already gives you and nothing to translate.

Wi-Fi HaLow is Wi-Fi

Native IP support means no protocol-translation gateway, and the same network stack, tooling, and engineering skills your team already has.

An open, certified standard

Wi-Fi HaLow is IEEE 802.11ah, certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance as Wi-Fi CERTIFIED HaLow. Certified products interoperate across vendors, so there is no single-supplier lock-in.

Wi-Fi-grade security

WPA3, Protected Management Frames, and Opportunistic Wireless Encryption, with AES and SHA-2 handled in dedicated on-chip hardware.

Who we are

Built to scale

Morse Micro is fabless by design. We develop and own the Wi-Fi HaLow hardware and software IP, and manufacture through established high-volume foundry and packaging partners on processes qualified for consumer and industrial production. The MM8108 is in commercial mass production today, built on redundant supply chains so that a disruption to any one source does not interrupt supply.
